Ballinkillen 2-05 Carlow Town Hurling Club 2-04

5th July 2014

There really was nothing between these 2 teams on the day. Although scores seemed to dry up in the second half with defences on top, this was an exciting game throughout with both teams fully committed to the cause. Carlow Town got off to a perfect start with a goal from Ben Crotty within the first couple of minutes. Darragh Cummins answered for the home side with a well-taken goal immediately after that, followed by a point from Kevin Kavanagh for the home team. Adam Doyle replied with a point for Carlow Town on 6 minutes, quickly followed by a spurned goal chance for the visitors. Instead it was Darragh Bolger who goaled for Ballinkillen on 10 minutes, followed by a point for Eric English. Carlow Town closed out the first half in style with 2 points for Adam Doyle and a goal from Jake O´Reilly to leave the half-time score 2-02 to 2-03 in favour of the visitors.
Scores proved very hard to come by in the second half with Carlow Town registering 0-01 from Josh O´Toole and the home side managing just 0-03, 2 frees and a single point from play, all from the stick of Jack Mcloughlin.
