The first half of this game was low-scoring and very evenly matched with Ballinkillen's (Grp 1) U-12s putting in their strongest performance of the year. Jack Treacy scored 4 points for Ballinkillen and Ciaran Kavanagh scored 3 points for MLR. There were goal chances at both ends, but Conor Tracey made a couple of outstanding saves for Ballinkillen and the MLR defence smothered repeated efforts in their own square . Ballinkillen just failed to convert the opportunities made by their hard work in defence and at midfield and the first half score probably didn't reflect their level of possession.

The flood gates broke in the second half despite continued hard work by the Ballinkillen defence and MLR registered 3-4 mainly from the stick of Ciaran Kavanagh. Again, Ballinkillen spurned opportunities in attack that could have changed the outcome. On the positive side for Ballinkillen this is a game that the visitors could have won with a bit of luck and a bit more precision in attack. Best on the day for Ballinkillen were Sean Smithers, Jack Treacy and Jack McLoughlin.

For MLR, their second half display more than made up for a slow start and their ability to take goal opportunities made all the difference - Ciaran Kavanagh, Dean Tobin and Fiachra Fitzpatrick stood out.

MLR: Ben Bolger, Barry Coady, Ben Coleman, Pauric Coleman, Tadhg Doran, Fiachra Fitzpatrick, Michael Joyce, Sean Joyce, Ciaran Kavanagh, Ciaran Kavanagh, Liam Lawlor, Michael O'Neill, Evan Kealy, Dean Tobin, Joe Dundon, Robert Stafford, Caihe Kavanagh

Ballinkillen: Louis Brennan, Colin Byrne, James Cummins, Cian Delaney, Mark Foley, Patrick Kavanagh, Jack McLoughlin, Thomas O'Donoghue, Jack Ryan, Sean Smithers, Conor Tracey, Jack Treacy, Eoin Whelan
