This was a competitive and sporting game played on a chilly evening in St. Mullins. Ballinkillen went into an early lead with 2 well-worked points from Patrick Kavanagh and one from Eoin Whelan in the first 5 minutes. Cathal Connolly responded for the home side with a pointed free on 11 minutes. That was matched by Eoin Whelan´s pointed free from long range shortly afterwards. Ballinkillen´s Louis Brennan scored 2 points from play before the break after Paudie O´Shea pointed for St. Mullins.

The first 10 minutes of the second half saw 2 goals for Eoin Whelan, the second resulting from good link up play by the visitors. After that Eoin Whelan and Cathal Connolly traded pointed frees. Ballinkillen managed 3 more points, one from Patrck Kavanagh and 2 from Conor Tracey (´45). The game ended with a rampant St. Mullins scoring 2-2 in the closing 5 minutes, the goals coming from John Doyle (free) and Paudie O´Shea, the points from Conor Kehoe and John Doyle again (´45).

The stand-out defenders were full-back John Doyle for the home side and Ballinkillen´s centre-back Niall Hickey.
