Muinebheag 5-09 Ballinkillen 2-07

A depleted Ballinkillen team played Muinebheag at McGrath park in the final round of the league. An Eoin Kavanagh goal from a long delivery by goalkeeper Niall Whelan gave Ballinkillen an ideal start. Ciaran Whelan was hurling up a storm at midfield and had a great duel with Conor Lennon for the home team over the hour. Whelan hit five first half frees over his first cousin Alan's crossbar. He was assisted by 2 65s from Thomas Dowling. Muinebheag replied with some lovely scores from the pacey Richie Whelan and Nolan to leave it a 2 point game at halftime. Niall Hickey started the second half with a Ballinklillen score but this was their last for 18 minutes as the home side pressed hard for key scores - scoring 3 goals in this time. Tommy Bric was doing some great defending for the visitors and indeed only for his 3 great hooks and a goal line clearance, the margin of defeat could have been worse. The home side finished out comfortable winners but Ballinkillen can be proud of the display on the night.
