1st Rose of Ballinkillen

posted 20 Apr 2014, 10:34 by Neil McLoughlin

Friday night the 28th of March in Ballinkillen/Lorum Community Centre was full of excitement and anticipation as the huge crowd filled the hall. All the Roses were a sight to behold and many had expressed their talent in singing, accordion playing and tin whistle. The compère Billy Canning was outstanding, Dáithi O Shea could not do better. Tommy Kinsella a GAA stalwart acted as MC. The interval maintained the high standard with two world class Irish dancers Amy Davis and Róisín O Brien who gave a rousing performance tapping the boards. A big congratulations to Leanne Corcoran on being crowned the 1st Rose of Ballinkillen. Her radiant personality shone through and  makes her a great ambassador for the GAA in Ballinkillen. We  wish her all the very best in the Carlow Rose and beyond.  It was a wonderful night for all ages and  a very community spirited occasion.

A big thanks to the organising committee Paddy Farrell, Tommy Kinsella, Geraldine Joyce, Margaret Joyce, Sinead Minchin and Mick Kinsella pro with Paddy leading from the front. The Roses were wonderful and looked great on the night, complimented by the four escorts who showed that their talents were not confined to hurling.

Thanks to the judges and all who volunteered on the night.
